Using your Instagram account as advertising for contractors is the easiest, cheapest and fastest way to find new customers and grow your business. It is an amazing way to grow your local network and lead generation tool if it is set up correctly.
In this post, we are going to look at 3 ways to get the leads flowing in:
1. Setting up your profile page
2. Choosing who to follow
3. Content
1 - Setting up your profile page
I see so many trade businesses with great content and 1,000’s of followers but they have gotten the most important part wrong - the setup! It is probably because the account was set up on day 1 and was never customised. The theory is ‘make it easy for customers to contact you’
Here are a few tips of what to include on your profile page:
Your company logo
This will help people get used to seeing it, when they see it on your van, site hoarding or t-shirt it will be instantly recognisable.
Company bio
Short and to the point, one sentence that describes what your business specialises in.
Contact name and phone number
If somebody wants to use your company, make it easy for them to contact you, it also makes it feel more personal.
Email address
If someone wants to send you plans or request for a quote, they'll need your email address, again, it’s about make it easy to do business with you.
Company website
Your Instagram is a snapshot of your company, your website should have lots more photos, who you are, testimonials etc. If someone is thinking about using your company they'd like to see your website.
2 - Who to follow
To grow a company page, you need let the Instagram algorithm know who you are i.e. a construction business in Sydney. The easiest way to show the instagram bot who you are and what you're interested in, is with who you follow. If you get this right, Instagram will show your content to other similar businesses and potential customers and the followers will start to come naturally.
Rule:
Only follow accounts relevant to your business, I know it’s tempting to follow your favourite sports stars but that is all you will see in your feed if you clutter your account. You can start unfollowing accounts now if you’ve already done this.
3 - Content
This is the fun bit, the most important thing you can be is ‘consistent’. Post often, every day if possible.
When you are on-site all day you are surrounded by content:
What are you doing today?
What stage is the construction project at?
What construction jobs are you quoting on next?
What problem did you solve?
Let’s see some progress photos and videos.
Show us a beautiful finished product.
Connect with your clients so you can post a finished product photo, tag them, they’ll re-post it for all their friends to see & that’s a few hundred potential new customers.
Conclusion
You already have an Instagram account, with a few tweaks that will literally take minutes, you can make Instagram work for you. Think of it as a way to show your future customers why they should use you.
